Understanding Occasional Cortex Disorder: A Public Health Poster (satire)

Occasional Cortex Disorder (OCD) is a serious medical condition that deteriorates the reasoning power of the human brain.

The OCD brain collects facts, but can't associate or share knowledge across its memory spheres. If a normal brain is a global network, the OCD brain is a siloed 1980s IBM PC. OCD causes the cortex to form black holes which gravitationally pull back and stop information from000bbeing shared with other spheres.

Simple facts the OCD brain can recall, such as: margarita recipes, salsa-sauce-making tips, and kitty litter clean up strategies.

However complex thought is restricted. Questions about foreign policy and macro-economics wrack the brain of an OCD sufferer.

In the end, OCD-inflicted people don't trust logic and000bfacts as much as their feeeeelings.

A normal brain learns from history. It stores life's lessons in long term memory to better adapt to life.

The normal cerebral cortex is active & associative. Logical insights flash back and forth across its connective tissue. It learns life's lessons:

-- People must work to eat & live in a safe shelter.
-- It's not wise to kill geese who lay golden eggs.000b
-- Socialists murdered tens of millions in the 20th century.000b
-- Criminals, fraudsters & MS-13 gangs actually exist.000b
-- Police, military, ICE and border walls protect us.
-- Big government taxes kill000bprivate job creation.000b

Poconopundit coined the nom de gurre for her: “Alexandria Occasional-Cortex” which I appreciate for two reasons...first, I cannot remember her real name (is it Occidentally-Cortez or “Accidentally-Cortez”...or what?) and secondly, it highlights the fact that her gray matter may not be in a processing mode for all things at all times!

Exactly.

Every few decades, socialism rears its ugly head, often with a new name like “Democratic Socialism” or whatever, and the new acolytes have never learned (or have willfully forgotten) the lessons of history, and it makes another push to get into the public sphere.

But it is still the same evil dressed up in new clothes.

From what I understand of this debilitating condition is that it is related to Trump Derangement Synonym. Trump Derangement Syndrome is a media driven disorder. If you stop feeding your brain on MSM the disorder will naturally subside and the brain will start to function somewhat reasonably... maybe even suggest to the patient that it’s time to leave the parent’s basement and get a job.

Cortex disorder is more complicated and has a history that predates media. Some think that it was imported from Europe to Latin America and others say it was a response to imperialist Conquistadors e.g., Cortez the Killer. It is also aligned with South American Liberation Theology. Many think it is the product of a virulent virus — like rabies — that make you want to bite the invisible hand of Capitalism. American universities are perhaps the ones most infected and students and profs will resort to a gibberish speech they call Post Modernism. Some students and profs think it is quite fashionable to talk in this irrational way before they march in mayhem destroying other people’s property. But there is no hope for the rabid universities unless they quarantine them and take a blow torch to disinfect by fire — the situation is that critical.

I agree, BEJ.

The idiocy of which you speak was written about in a 1922 essay by H. L. Mencken called Vox Populi.

I posted an edited verson of this in a 2016 piece: H. L. Mencken Predicted Donald Trump, the Enlightened Rabble-Rouser

Did you see the recent story that Trump is working on a bill that will get colleges and universities to document how much money their graduates make?

That will take a sizeable bit out of gender studies and other worthless humanities programs.

Occasional anxiety is a normal part of life. Life is stressful for many of us and experiencing symptoms of worry, irritability, and fatigue related to this anxiety is common. However, people with anxiety disorder often have intensive, excessive, and persistent worry and fear about everyday situations. Anxiety disorder may involve repeated episodes of intense anxiety, fear, and terror that reach peak after a few minutes (panic attacks).

These episodes of panic and anxiety interfere with daily activities and are difficult to control. They are out of proportion to the actual danger and can last a long time.

Functional Limitations Of Anxiety Disorder

Anxiety disorders include generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety (social phobias), and separation anxiety disorder. Sometimes anxiety results in a medical condition that may need treatment. These symptoms can be treated very effectively with non-habit-forming medications that are inexpensive and well tolerated. Symptoms may also be helped with psychotherapy.

Whatever form of anxiety you have, we can assist in the evaluation and treatment.
