Half Mil Dot
With dots all over the place, it is very easy to visualize half of a dot to dot length, or a dot and a half of length as the case may be. Mil-Dot aficionados will tell you that a Mil-Dot scope is the only 'real' range compensating scope (and range finding scope) that there is. Well, they have a point, or at least a dot! At 400 yards, it's a four-inch group. At 50 yards, it's a half-inch group. Now what is a mil? One mil of angle is approximately 3.6 inches long at 100 yards, and that is close enough to 3.5 minutes of angle to be convenient.
